The lovely experience of becoming a certified Tarot Reader

My workshop day came today, and it was blissful. I’ve been looking forward to this since signing up for the class about a month ago. I had been eyeing the particular training for several years, and couldn’t be happier with my experience! I’m happy to state that I am now a certified tarot reader — though so many can become self taught, and I still have so much more learning to do, because I think that you learn each time you read the cards.

Just as I was describing in my last post, I think that there is no wrong way to read the cards when your heart is in the right place; but you do need a good foundation. This was just it, and at the right metaphysical store with the right teacher to guide us. Without going into any details of what we talked about, because this was a special important and private business experience, I will share some of the things I’ve always known about the decks, and then how I felt after the class that changed my way of thinking about wanting to become a tarot reader for others.

The tarot come in many decks, and there is a long history that I can go into in future posts, but what I have known reading books and researching about them is that many believe they originate around the 14th/15th centuries in France/Italy.

The cards I learn from and predominantly use are the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, with familiar and timeless illustrations, although I love The Russian Tarot of St. Petersburg deck, as well. There are 78 cards, with 22 Major Arcana and the rest are the Minor Arcana or pip cards as I’ve heard them called in books. They consist of four suits, Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles, and contain numbers ace through ten with four court cards each: the Page, Knight, Queen and King.

Learning about the cards and gaining a better understanding of them and intuitive reading left me feeling hopeful. I shared in my first two posts here that The Star is an important card to me and its representative of overcoming obstacles, just as the previous card in the Major Arcana depicts The Tower falling and The Star card is the guiding light that follows. I feel like I am on a right path in exploring the tarot more deeply, particularly in my late aunt’s honor. She was a special person, my godmother, and though we could sometimes have volatility in our connection, there was never a want for a deeper, otherworldly love and caring.

As I was looking at my cards and my certificate, I noticed the time on the clock: 4:44. The angel number 444 represents a right path, stability and sureness in guidance from your angels. It couldn’t have been more appropriate and phenomenal to see that number flash across the screen.

I now feel more confident to share my intuitive gifts and learned teachings by reading for others. I plan on offering online readings in the near future, and in person as I explore the avenues to do so. More to come on that.
